OverviewDefensive end Adam Carriker established himself as an imposing presence on the Nebraska defensive front. Some of his accolades include:
2006 Preseason All-American (Playboy, Athlon, Lindy’s) 2006 Preseason First-Team All-Big 12 (Athlon, Lindy’s) 2006 Preseason Second-Team All-Big 12 (Sporting News) Two-Time Lombardi Award Watch List (2005, 2006) 2006 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List 2006 Chuck Bednarik Watch List 2006 Lott Trophy Watch List 2005 Nebraska Defensive MVP 2005 First-Team All-Big 12 (Associated Press, Dallas Morning News) 2005 Second-Team All-Big 12 (Coaches, Kansas City Star, Austin American-Statesman, San Antonio Express News) Three-Time Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Academic Honor Roll (2003, 2005, 2006) 2004 Nebraska Lifter of the Year StrengthsCarriker has an impressive combination of size, strength and agility which allows him to apply pressure to the quarterback, while taking on multiple blockers. He added more than 10 pounds of muscle to his 6-6 frame increasing his weight to 295 pounds. While adding the weight, Carriker improved his 10 and 40-yard dash times. His stature could allow Carriker to move inside to tackle on passing downs if needed. Has an incredible motor.
WeaknessesInjuries were a concern early in his career, but he seems to have overcome those. Sometimes disappears, but that is normally due to double teams.
ProjectionPossibly a late 1st rounder.

Date/Time: 03/14/2007 - 8:11PM EDT Predicted Round: Round 1 Carriker is an absolute stud. He's almost the definition of bookend. He's a big, strong athlete that was seemingly born to play football. He'll probably never put up huge sack numbers, but he'll be a long-time starter in the league and he probably won't have many bad games. Will be a team leader and a fiery one at that from day one. He plays with so much intensity and emotion its spreads like a virus through the team. He gets everybody excited while playing, and is an absolute beast on the defensive line. Adam is not only a talented pure FOOTBALL PLAYER, but he is also a high motor try hard kind of guy. He is always hustling. Sort of like a much, much bigger Grant Winstrom. He also has the versitility to play end or tackle like Ty Warren or Trevor Pryce. Whether or not in a 4-3 or 3-4 he can fit in very well. In a traditional 4-3 he could play end on running downs and on obvious passing downs could play tackle. He has the quickness and quick first step to come off the edge, not to mention more strength than your average DEs against OTs. In the 4-3 he could also switch it up and play inside and be a great one gap DT. His strength, quickness, and high motor would be an excellent combination to counter against slower guards and centers. In a 3-4 scheme he would be a DE. Here it might take him a little getting used too, not being asked to kill the QB. But he certainly has the power against the run and to tie up mutiple blockers for his LBs to make plays. His football IQ will make it very easy for him to pick up any teams defense and for teams that run a variation of both 3-4 and 4-3, such as Baltimore, Arizona(2007), San Francisco, New England, New York Jets, and Miami. Also his size is just astounding. Any 6'6 300lbs. true defensive LINEMAN of his ability is an asset. Teams looking for a mean streak, tough, team leader will fall in love with Adam. His ability to make a impact in 2007 would be just to much to pass up in the first round. Carricker has the Size u love in a Defensive Linemen at 6'6 295, He is Quicker then he looks and has great Burst off the Line. Still developing as a DE but is Great aginst the Run already, still developing Pass rushing Skills. Can play a 3 Technique DT in the NFL and might be better suited for it or a 3-4 DE is a poor mans Richard Seymore(New England Patriots) User: HinesWard86 Date/Time: 12/4/2006 - 5:28PM EST Predicted Round: Round 3 No Comments Submitted User: nBarnett56 Date/Time: 12/4/2006 - 3:20PM EST Predicted Round: Round 1 No Comments Submitted User: J200 Date/Time: 12/4/2006 - 7:20AM EST Predicted Round: Round 1 No Comments Submitted Rate This Player |
