CDS Profile
Brad is the closest thing to Michael Vick that I have seen in a while. His skills translates very well to the pro game because he has played in a pro style offense, quite often Missouri spreads out four receivers and if no one is open, kaboom, Vick, I mean Brad Smith takes off. As a sophomore in 2003 his numbers will make your head spin, over 1000 yards rushing and 1000 yards passing in back-to-back seasons for the All Big-12quarterback. Brad Smith already has gained more notoriety than any Missouri football player in recent history, after setting a school record with 3,362 total yards in 2003. He will be a very experienced senior this year and is expected to only get better. Brad tried to convert to a pocket passer in 2004 and things didn't work out, he had difficulty seeing the field and got into trouble staring down his receivers. He had his lowest rushing output by more than 900 yards and his passing rating and rushing yardage was the worst of his career. Coach Pinkel understands his mistakes and he now realizes that Brad Smith is at his best as a run-pass threat. Missouri will utilize a different offense this year, similar to the one they used in 2003, they will line up in the spread/shotgun/no huddle with Smith as the only player in the backfield at times, something that the Falcons should probably do with Michael Vick, but anyway that is a different subject. Expect a bounce back year for Smith and an invitation to play on Sundays. Missouri should improve offensively with a stout interior offensive line, playmaking receivers in Sean Coffey and Brad Ekwerekwu and a talented tight end in Martin Rucker, Smith will have plenty of options. Statistically Smith is quite the QB, he has already accumulated 9,483 yards of total offense, he is only 211 yards short of the Missouri career rushing record, but all the Tigers have to show for it so far are one winning season, one bowl appearance in which they lost, and an 18-18 record.
