On any other team, Carpenter would be the best player on the defense. On a loaded team in Columbus, Carpenter will have to settle to covering the strong side. A big, instinctive linebacker who like his other LB counterparts makes plays. Bobby is the biggest LB on the team and has NFL pedigree. His father, Rob played in the league as well. Carpenter is a skilled veteran who has played in most of his games since hes been at Ohio State. He has been overshadowed by AJ Hawk, but he can hold his own and truthfully has the best set of tools of the 3 going into the NFL. He was 2nd in tackles on the team with 93 in 2004 and he racked up 49 this year. Carpenter has been a rock of consistency at his 4 years in Ohio State and this year, showcased his passrushing skills at defensive end. Bobby suffered an injury early in the U of M game of which at his pro day was about 90%, but Carpenter has been good enough to warrant a first round grade. Carpenter had a very good pro day and showed that when healthy will be a force to be reckoned with. A few years down the road, we could be talking about how great a OLB draft this year has and how Bobby Carpenter may be the best of them all.
