Big, strong, hard hitting junior safety that is best in run support. He led the team with an amazing 96 tackles from his strong safety spot last year (2004). He will come up in a hurry and plug those holes in run support. He is also a former receiver so he understands the passing game and is athletic enough to provide outstanding coverage and range. Pollard led the Boilers in tackles this year and felt good enough to consider himself eligible for the 2006 NFL Draft. While I think he could be a lock first rounder next year, he has a high enough grade from the NFL to come out now. He cited problems with the coaching staff as his reason for leaving school. With a weaker safety class and a lot of 'tweeners' Pollard will most certainly be a first day pick, later in round 3.
