Anthony Madison was one of four returning starters in an excellent Tide secondary. Madison is an undersized corner who uses outstanding speed and athleticism to challenge the larger receivers. He was not challenged a lot this season and, as a result, Madison's numbers suffered a bit and he ended the season without an interception. (The Alabama individual defensive numbers, across the board, were lower than usual because the defense forced so many three and outs.)
Madison is an excellent cover corner despite his lack of height. He plays an aggressive game. He is a hard worker on the practice field and displays a great, coachable attitude. With the tall receiver in vogue in the NFL, Madison has to count on his solid performances against some of the larger SEC wideouts to impress the scouts. A 4.40 forty at his pro day, along with a good vertical jump (38.5") will also make the scouts take notice.
Madison graduated prior to his senior year, showing a dedication to his work in the classroom as well as on the football field. Madison hopes to hear his name called sometime late on the second day of the 2006 NFL Draft.
