A non stop 'snap-to-whistle' player who never gives up. As a senior, there isn't much Hawk hasn't done. He wrapped up 141 tackles in 2004 and 121 in 2005. He has may strengths, but one is his hands. He has as good of hands as any top LB in the 2006 NFL draft. AJ is a the type of player you build a team around. Not only does he stuff anything in his way, he provides a spark on defense and his athleticism nets him some quality INTs as well. A.J. was a monster last year, but in 2003 against North Carolina State he netted 12 tackles, 2 for loss, and an interception that went 55 yards the other way. His play enabled Ohio State to beat NCSU in triple overtime and to stay undefeated at that point in the season. He is one of the most decorated linebackers in recent memory, and went out on a big note destroying Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl. Hawk excels in running from side to side ending the play quickly. Hawk only needs to improve his strength and ability to stop and change direction. Sometimes AJ overpersues the ball at times as well and does not have ideal height or weight for the position. Hawk is a top flight LB who will be a top 5 selection most likely. A humble player who loves the game, he will impress scouts on and off the field. Hawk does have some versatility, but I see him either as a WLB or a MLB at the next level.
