CDS Profile
In 2003:
Led Oklahoma with seven interceptions, which tied for No. 11 nationally ... two picks each against Iowa State and Texas Tech ... all but two of his interceptions came in conference play ... set up an OU touchdown by returning an interception 49 yards in the Nokia Sugar Bowl ... fourth leading tackler on the team with 68 .. season-high 11 tackles vs. North Texas ... had 10 tackles against LSU in the national championship game ... blocked an extra point at Colorado.
In 2004:
Brodney continued to be the leader of the OU deep patrol, and is the unquestioned best DB on a team full of high quality DBs. He was named First-team all Big-12 this past year and really picked his game up another notch by collecting an amazing 92 total tackles on a team full of great tacklers. His 9 PDs show that he is very aware in coverage, but we would have liked to have seen more than just 2 interceptions this past year for a guy with his skills. Brodney is tall and has long arms, making him tough to throw over. He is a smart athlete who positions himself well and gets to the ball quickly. He is an aggressive safety who lays a lick. He has really good hips and change of direction, so much so that some NFL scouts have said he could play CB. On the negative side though, he could be a fiercer player. He doesn't like to take receivers on heads up all the time and will come in from the side to often and drag tackle too much. He got burned more than you would like last year and does not possess great catch up speed on those rare occassions when he guesses wrong. Still, he is probably the best safety in the draft and should hear his name called somewhere around the beginning of round two.
2 CENTS WORTH- Pool is getting comparison to former Oklahoma and current Dallas star Roy Williams. But I dont feel that is a good comparison. His size and athletic ability make for one of the most talented safeties in college football today. Look for him and Donte Nicholson to both go high in the 2005 draft.
