I am not as high on Brock Berlin as some, he was a highly touted Miami quarterback last year and NFL caliber talent surrounded him. But him and his team really faded down the stretch. They started the 2003 season by winning their first seven games only to lose 2 out of their last four. For most other teams that would be a great season but not Miami, they had to share the Big East Title with West Virginia. He threw for 2,419 yards and 12 touchdowns but his 17 interceptions seem to come at the worst times. His 2 interceptions against Tennessee came when we had his TE Kellen Winslow wide open. You have to wonder why he transferred from in state rival Florida. However, Berlin did make big plays when he needed them. The comeback against the Gators and the fourth-down play against West Virginia are just a couple examples of huge plays that Berlin made last season. He has questionable arm strength and has difficulty reading defenses but we have to remember he is very inexperienced; he has only 12 career starts under his belt. He faced stiff competition from QB Kyle Wright this year, but beat him out easily. By the way, remember that name, QB Kyle Wright is 6’ 5”, 220 pounds and was considered the top prep QB in the nation coming out of high school. Even though the Hurricaines had a down year, Berlin actually had a pretty good season. They (Miami) didn't have a game breaking receiver and that hurt Berlin, but he still finished ranked #1 in the ACC in passing yards with 2509.
