Very talented multi-purpose running back that has battled injuries. Suffered a season ending ACL injury last year (2003) but came out of no-where this year to finish as the #2 rusher in the ACC. This year (2004) he recorded 186 carries for 985 yards and 9 TDs. His 5.3 yards per carry average was very impressive. He has had a heck of a career even with his injury, he can catch the ball superbly as well as return kicks and punts. He finished his career with 2,342 yards of total offense and 27 TDs. The AP All-Conference selection committee was kind to Virginia (8-3, 5-3), they led the way with five first-team picks: the conference's No. 2 rusher in Alvin Pearman, tight end Heath Miller, offensive tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson, offensive guard Elton Brown, and linebacker Ahmad Brooks. But Pearman was the heart and soul of the team, he is faster and a better receiver than Wali Lundy and led the entire ACC with 167.6 all-purpose yards per game. He has proven that can carry a full load and will be carrying the pigskin on Sundays if he can stay healthy.

He really improved his 40 times from the combine. Alvin Pearman RB Pearman (5-9 3/8, 205) ran the 40 in 4.54 and 4.55. He had a 35½-inch vertical jump, 10-foot long jump, 4.09 short shuttle and a 6.93 three-cone drill. He stood by his combine time in the long shuttle (11.11).
